January in the Studio: First Bouquets, Winter Quiet & Wedding Flower Preservation
January felt like a month of hibernation - a time to slow down, get cosy, and notice the small joys hidden in everyday life. We had a brief cold snap at the start of the month, just enough for some fun in the (very shallow) snow. Short-lived, but delightful all the same.
I was a little late planting my spring bulb “lasagnas,” but now they’re tucked in, and I check them every day. One already shows the faintest stir of life - a tiny whisper of spring beneath the winter soil. Somewhere between these quiet, restorative moments, we escaped to London for an unforgettable immersive evening of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. It was a long month, yes, but filled with small joys and the very first hints of change in the air.
Even though winter feels quiet, the studio is still busy. Pressed wedding bouquet preservation takes time - I’m carefully working on bouquets from last year, layering petals, and ensuring every detail is perfect before they settle into their frames. And this month, I received my first wedding bouquet of the year for pressing, a lovely reminder that the new season is beginning, and that each bouquet brings its own story to preserve. There’s a rhythm to the work, a slow, patient attention that mirrors the season itself. Just as I watch bulbs awaken beneath the soil, I watch flowers transform in the studio - preserving memories long after the wedding day has passed.
Even in the stillness, there are whispers of spring. As the days lengthen and the light shifts, I begin preparing for the coming wedding season. Pressing and preserving wedding flowers isn’t just a practical craft; it’s a way of holding onto moments that matter, noticing the delicate details, and creating something that lasts far beyond a single day.
If you’re planning a spring or summer wedding, I’m now taking bookings for pressed wedding bouquet preservation. Clients across the UK can post their bouquets, or arrange collection in Buckinghamshire - a wonderful to preserve your flowers and the memories they carry.
